I often get asked why I chose to be a financial adviser. The truth is, I was actually days away from finishing my accounting degree when a friend showed me a Statement of Advice. That single document changed everything.

Financial planning clicked because it combined two powerful things - the precision of numbers and the ability to help people get ahead. I could see how the right advice at the right time could open up so many possibilities.

Starting my career in 2009, right after the GFC, taught me a lot about what matters in financial advice. Since then, I've built my practice on something I truly believe in: great financial advice changes lives.

Nothing beats seeing clients tick off their big goals and hearing what they're up to when they pop in for a review. These days, many of them feel more like friends than clients.

When I'm not in the office, you'll probably find me at Nudgee Golf Club - I'm there most Saturday mornings. Golf's my thing (along with travel), and I even got to play in a professional event in 2022. Didn't come last, which I'm pretty chuffed about!

Brisbane's home now, but I grew up on the Central Coast of NSW. These days, I spend my downtime between the golf course and Mooloolaba Beach (my local escape).

In the hot seat with Troy.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive who would it be? Why?
My Pop and Tiger Woods.

What's your favourite quote?
"Will it really matter in 10 years time?"

What was your first job and what did it teach you?
I washed cars in my street to raise money for an overseas cricket tour when I was 15 – it taught me to work hard, think of ways to earn money and not be afraid to ask.

What book changed your perspective on money or life?
I'm not a huge reader, but I can honestly say my life in general has taught me so much about my life and money. I had amazing parents who worked their backsides off. They taught me that if you work hard, be a good person, and do the right things, good things will happen - and that's exactly what seems to be playing out.

What’s your go to karaoke song?
None – no amount of beer can get me to do karaoke.

If you could live in any city in the world for a year, where would it be and why?
Danang – Vietnam. The weather, the food, the people, the beaches, the golf course and the cost! It is one of the best places on earth.
